Ovoid: 1-001
Size: 43” x 31” x 1.5” / 109 cm x 79 cm x 4 cm
One of a pair of sister ovoids. Within the centers are areas of whites, milky blues, and beiges. Part of the edge is rimmed in a band of black. Below this black edge is an area where seasonal rings are clearly referenced. The rest of the piece is rimmed in red. Interestingly, within the red rim are 5 almost evenly spaced areas of color showing touches of magenta, yellows, milky blues, and whites.
When the light is right you will see little flashes of light emanating from the tiny quartz crystals that formed in the wood. In addition, near the center is a small vein of amethyst.
The cambium is preserved around much of the outer edge.
Used individually or as a pair these sisters can easily become a focal point or beautiful and functional table top in any of a very wide range of decor styles. |

Ovoid: 1-006
Size: 47” x 24” x 1.5/ 119 cm x 61 cm x 4 cm
Deep blues and rich milky blues are at the heart of the color movement throughout this piece. The referenced growth rings seem to create the look of a swirling kaleidoscope of layered colors over a deep pool of blues. Whites, reds, beiges, hints of magenta, and blacks all seem to drift effortlessly in, out, and above the blues.
A small pocket of amethyst is off to one side. A pocket of quartz crystals has grown near the center. Seasonal rings are referenced in the black area. The more your eyes explore this piece, the more intricate, amorphous shapes and colors you’ll discover.
As a focal point it can be wall mounted and illuminated. Its asymmetrical shape enhances its interest as an accent table or small coffee table. |
